Description
It is a colourless crystalline solid and a simple aromatic carboxylic acid.Benzoic acid is an ingredient in cosmetic products, dyes and insect repellents. Because of benzoic acid’s anti-fungal nature, it acts as a preservative in these products by inhibiting the growth of mould, yeast and bacteria.
In personal care products, it is found in mouthwash, toothpaste, powder, lipstick and facial cleanser.
